Road Infrastructure Agency with a series of meetings with carriers on the occasion of the introduction of the toll system
Chairman of the Board of the Road Infrastructure Agency Eng. Lazar Lazarov began a series of meetings with representatives of branch associations of carriers in Bulgaria on the occasion of design, construction and introduction of electronic system for collecting fees for use of the road network. They will continue until May 24th.
The system vision was exposed to representatives of the Bulgarian Association of the Road Transport Unions / BASAT /, AEBTRI, the National Association of Bulgarian Carriers, Union of International Haulers, Union of the Organizations in the Road Transport, National Transport Association and the National Association of Bus Transport.
’Carriers are our partners and together we must find the best solution for all,’ said Eng. Lazarov. He pointed out that the state will operate the toll system, it will not be given a concession and it will be owned by RIA. Chairman of the RIA stressed that up to date there is no specific tariff for tolls, for which category of vehicle and for which type of time how much will cost. ‘We are at the stage of discussion to build a toll system for travelled distance for heavy traffic and e-vignette for cars and it will protect the interests of all. With the improvement of the road network we will ensure better roads, better quality and fast transport,’ said Eng. Lazarov.
The Chairman of the Bulgarian Association of the Road Transport Unions Miroljub Stolarski stressed that the toll system is indeed most fair form for charging and pointed out that the carriers branch is for dialogue with the administration.
Eng. Lazarov and representatives of the carriers agreed to continue the meetings as they will be invited representatives of the Ministries of Finance and Transport.
